Crotons

Crotons (Codiaeum variegatum) come in countless beautiful colors, including yellows, reds, golds, oranges, purples, pinks, and white. Likewise, their variegated leaf shapes vary from narrow to wide ribbons and even flat or swirly. Crotons are truly Florida’s choice for foliage, both in outdoor landscaping and as an indoor houseplant.

A Croton can grow up to ten feet though optimal height is three to five feet. Varieties include Mammy, Magnificent, Gold Star, Mrs. Iceton, Petra, Sunny Star, Red Corkscrew and many others.

Varieties can be planted together to produce a brilliant display of color or dispersed among other plants to add color to your landscaping. Crotons prefer partial to full sunlight though light requirements can vary by type. During a cold spell, Crotons may lose leaves that will quickly regrow once warmer temperatures return.
